Question Any experience with the bug net hammock from Hammock Gear?

    Hi!
First post here, I知 looking to buy myself a new hammock.
I致e bought the hammock gear journey and stumbled upon their bug net hammock.
How is the lay in it? I own the Kammok mantis and like the loops along the hammock and thought that the HG looks very interesting.

I知 trying to decide between the bug net hammock or a warbonnet eldorado. There is a lot of reviews on the eldorado and I知 curious to see how the HG hammock compares to the eldorado.

So any input from more knowledgable folk would be greatly appreciated!

    All the best!
    Mathias

Mathias, welcome to the forum. Though a bug net hammock - a hammock that has a bug net built in - is handy, uou can also buy just a separate net. Also, when you say “new” hammock, that could mean you already have one or that this will be your first “new” hammock. If you already have a hammock you like, maybe you just need a separate net.

I don’t have an Eldorado but one of my hammocks is a BlackBird. Very Comfortable with a built-in net. Some of the decision depends on how tall you are. So we need to know a little bit about your size (height/weight approximate). Almost any hammock is fine for lounging around, afternoon naps, etc. But if you are going to be camping in one - out in the woods - multiple days, then you’ll want something substantial. Your Eldorado is or HammockGear choices are in the right direction.

Please tell us a little more about the environment you’d use them in.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

    Well, I'm 6 feet 251 lbs.

The hammock is intended for camping, I already own a Kammok Mantis setup.

I live in Denmark, so temperate forest with quite a few bugs and lots of precipitation.

I've done a few overnighters but on the long run multi-day trips are a very real possibility

    A long multi day trip?

Are you going to a place and setting up a camp, and spending days at that one spot?

Or are you hiking a section of trail, and stopping at a new location every night to set up a temporary camp for the evening, and breaking camp the next morning to hike further along the trail?

In the first scenario, that’s like car camping, and you can choose a different set up for it than you may when doing a through hike.

I haven’t got experience with the hammock gear model you are referencing, but I have looked into the Kammock mantis, and almost bought one as a kids hammock for camping trips last fall, so I know what you’ve been using thus far.
