    SLOVAKIA: New years frozen morning

3 days in the mountains, on the ridge full of snow, no path, first pass

First night next to the tourist shelter. We are not so high and the snow is quite wet, branches falling every minute. Will we survive?

In the morning, we need to climb a hill and walk the ridge covered with fresh snow. 2 hours track took us almost 6 hours.

It was almost dark when we came to a family of trees that could make it for the night with us. The last effort of exhausted people was to penetrate the trees to reach for the trunk to hang around.
During the night, the sky slowly cleared, the moon shined very strong and we had a very beautiful new years eve, warm and dry in the hammock.

It is 1.1.2021 and we are having our well deserved morning coffee

The descent was a lot easier now, as there was a path made already. The sun also made the day.

Incredibly beautiful shots - looked like an inspiring trip! Thanks so much for sharing it. I admit that I fell into a 5 minute daydream pretending that I was swinging in my favorite hammock in that amazing spot.

Every time you post your pictures I end up running out into the woods somewhere in Texas for a weekend. Not nearly as enchanting as your beautiful countryside in winter, but thank you all the same for the inspiration you bring.
