We got our first snow of the year yesterday and I raced home to sloppily set up and sleep outside! This is my 11' winter tarp (more or less a hex with doors) but the same poles work identically in my slightly narrower 12' hex.
The first pic is semi-hunkered down, doors closed but still a couple feet wider than the minimum and the whole thing can be lowered with corners to the ground and the poles nearly touching the hammock ridgeline if things got ugly or raised to allow easy unhunched standing which is great for my back at times. The second pic shows the huge interior roominess in this configuration. I's awesome. The third pic is after about thirty seconds tucking away a couple doors and releasing tension on the porch-side guylines. Lacking the ice and when the tarp is set a bit narrower the tarp will pop up further. All done from under the tarp and w/o moving any stakes.
