I am a newbie, I would like this hike. I am currently waiting on Santa and the US Post Office to bring me quilts. If the trip is a 1 mile in I could bring heavy gear. Car camp style.

Lt... you are automatically invited to trekking hangs we post on this thread.
Anyone can initiate a backpacking camping trip, including you.
I just finished an overnight camp.
It was one hour hike in. Not sure of distance, probably two and a half miles, at slow pace.

NC Uwharries Yeti Trek Winter 2020-2021

Announcing our first trek of New Year.
    Sasquatch watch out.
This trek is customizable, since not all are equally crazy.
We will meet and park vehicles at Yates Place Saturday morning 900 AM January 2 2021
We will wait as long as 1000 AM before hiking
We will backpack Uwharrie Trail SouthBound.
We can camp at Big Island Creek (plenty of water for coffee)
In morning after coffee and breakfast. Some might retrace steps back to Yates. And some can choose to continue lower part of Uwharrie Trail Dutchman’s Creek figure8 loop (as shown on AllTrailsPro app. We will be in one group or two groups and we will try to use our logisticical minds to always have a minimum of two per group.

Each backpacker is responsible for all their own supplies
Food, coffee, warm clothing (lows in low 20’s highs mid 40’s) hiking sticks-at least three creek crossings, alcohol? stove of choice, enough alcohol, water filter?, hammock insulation. Enough reading material-toiletries If planning on arriving late-a compass, paper map and phone app map are recommended.

Anyone can build a fire but there is not much firewood laying around. I generally do not build a fire.

Private message me with your phone number-optional, once I add your number to my contacts list, your call will go through. If you call my number and you are not yet on my contacts list. Leave a loud clear voice message. Also a phone text message will work.

    Surrender BigFoot!

NC Uwharries Yeti Trek Winter 2020-2021

    Change of plans
    Meet at Yates Place Campground
    Saturday January 2
Short miles backpack in to Big Island Creek on Uwharrie Trail South of Yates
Maybe 2 to 3 hours hike
    Camp at Big Island Creek
In morning drink coffee and tell lies
    “I weren’t c cc cold”
Backpack back to Yates either short way (retrace steps) or a bit longer—finish lower section of figure8 loop of Uwharrie Trail Dutchman’s Creek figure8 loop as shown on AllTrailsPro

    Saturday and Sunday
We will meet at 900 AM Saturday morning and wait until everyone has arrived but no waiting past 10 AM

This change is due to two reasons
Some campers work on Fridays (a novel idea)
And all rain should be gone according to latest weather forecast (Phantom skeeerdy cat)

If I got paid to tell lies...
It just wouldn’t be as much fun...

Change - Got it! Would love a New Years day hike but avoiding 70% chance of rain/thunder storms and 13 mph winds is worth waiting an extra day.

I'll keep watch here in case of other changes and if I'm able to make it. Thanks PG
    FYI -
I will not be toting in my gigantic family size coffee pot on this trip. Coffee you are on your own but I will bring a few lies to contribute hahaha
