I absolutely adore Zpack's 1.3mm zline for tarp ridgelines or stakeouts. Ultralight, zero stretch, super visible, holds tight with micro line locs, compatible with dutch hooks, & hold's knots extremely tight due to textured sheathing & zero stretch. In 5 years of using it, including high wind situations, I've never had a break or a fray or even ever needed to replace a single line. What more could I ask for?

Same here... 1.2 Reflective ZLine for the win.

Dutch Wire is nearly identical as far as I can tell. I use both but prefer the Z line.

I believe you are correct! They definitely feel the same. But the Dutch Wire says rated for 100lb on the web, & Zline says 200, so I decided to play it safe..

I am consuming the Dutch Wire for DIY stuff sacks and lanyards that benefit from a stiffer cord that is more friendly to gloved hands and night operations. Anywhere I need to negotiate connecting items..

Z-Line is on all of my tarps. I think I am still using the guy lines I made three or more seasons ago.

+1 for Zpacks zline and micro linelocs. Only issue I've ever had with it was in the White Mts during Hurricane Isaias. It would occasionally slip through the line loc on the bigger gusts but a simple slippery half hitch solved that. I have it on a dyneema HG Palace. I usually roll the tarp up in the morning and wrap the guylines around it before stuffing in a sack. The stiffness of the lines keeps them from tangling when I take ip back out again to set up.

Best way to tie micro line loc to d ring would be?
Have some coming with crossgrain loops but will be awhile
Soni have some here from dutch that I am going to tie on for the time being
And is a bowline acceptable to go around the stake?

I retro fit them on all of my tarps...

Removed all of the d-rings and sewed on the lineloc 5s. That's extreme and you might not want to do that so..

... You can buy lineloc 3 hook and clip it on the d-ring. The 3's don't hold well with the smaller cord like the 1.2 ZLine or Dutch Wire so you can easily put a little notch in the V that bites the line, using a utility knife.. Just enough to let the narrow cord to lock in, then use a slipped half hitch to back it up. I do this on my Palace since I haven't sewn the micro's on yet.

I can mod a few of them for you if you'd like...

I have been using warbonnet's line and am really happy with it with the lineloc 3s. We have some pretty nasty winds here in Wyoming (regularly above 70 mph), and I can tell you that my s-biner's bent before my lines loosened.

With that said, I needed to order some materials from Dutch, so I went ahead and threw in one of his lash-it continuous ridge lines as I have been wanting to try it out.
If you would like, I can post my thoughts on it after receiving it.

Regarding the stake loop, a bowline would do the job but has a tendency to work loose when not under tension unless you fix the tag end to the loop with a stopper- type knot. I just use an overhand knot to form the loop and call it done.

I attach my micro line-locs with a 1- inch loop of mason line, but any line will do (I don't use them as the instructions direct). I've mostly used braided mason line for the past several years and had no issues but I coil up my lines. Breaking strength has been reported at 50 lbs but I've put 75 on it measured with a bow scale and it held strong-- never tested it further. I want a weak point in my tie- outs that will break before my tarp material as I can repair line in the field easily and cheaply, but if the tarp fails I'm SOL.

Having said that, this winter I'm actually trying some line I saw at Hobby Lobby that cost $2.50 for 50 ft. It's 2 to 2.5 mm sheathed line in bright yellow and advertised as paracord, but it isn't paracord. The thickness helps with gloves and it holds much better in the micro line-locs without need for a back- up knot (so far ).
