Why do you think REI has two burries in their hammock whoopie slings?

So I am learning how to make whoopie slings from amsteel and I was looking at the suspension that REI uses for their hammocks and noticed that they have two buries in the sling. I've noticed that all other slings like the ones Dutch sells has one burry. Do you have any thinking for why REI would put two burries in their sling, besides the obvious one of more friction in the sling? It seems like a lot of additional weight when one burry has been shown to work just fine.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

Maybe REI is thinking about that one prevents the other to slip. Usually most of people are not used to hang their hammock with whoopie slings, although ENO has a kind of standard one's with only one burry? Could it be for heavy weight people?

That’s what I was thinking. Wondering if there are any other functions to it I haven’t noticed. Thanks!

They can't slip or be adjusted under load.

Rather in convienent for suspension to me.

I make locking UCR ropes for ridgeline that way. A pull on the loop of a UCR ridgeline can mess up your sag.

If you take it look at the example below you can see where are the adjustable tail for a UCR runs back on the main part of a Ridgeline.

I'm lazy so pretend that I showed you two different UCRs and didn't just splice a piece of amsteel with a stopper through one.

The one that is actually connected to the Rope is where the Ridgeline is threaded through the eye hole at the end of the sliding section of UCR.
Even under load if you pull that back up in the direction of the working end you can release the constriction.

When you consider a UCR or whoopie that is spuced back into itself you must be able to work with two separate constrictors at once to make adjustment. Any strain or load on the line prevents any adjustment larger than the gap in between your constriions.
