I purchased the Dutch 2-person wide with tie-out options.

Dutch Wide Two-person with double internal pole mods. One door and one open end w/ pole mod.

The Ultimate Survival Technologies B.A.S.E. Tarp is used if I need to add protection on the open end.

Oh man, that looks awesome, but definitely overkill for my current camping needs.

Rusty, thanks for this suggestion. I kind of wrote it off earlier, but the more I think about it and look into the Thunderfly, I think this is the route I am going to take. We just about exclusively car camp at the moment, which means fair weather, planned trips. Other than the tinker-ability of the Superfly, I really have no need for something so robust. I don't think I will go as small as the Minifly, but I am starting to hone in on the Thunderfly. Thanks again for opening my eyes/mind! It is smaller/lighter which will be great now and if I start doing some hike in camping and/or the kayaking trips with my buddy. If I ever do really get the urge for the colder winter camping then I can add the Superfly, but the Thunderfly just makes too much sense given my current actual needs.

Still awaiting the fabric samples to choose the color, but from looking at pics I think I like the Evergreen the most. Looking like I will be ordering an Evergreen Thunderfly in the near future!

    Thanks everyone!

If I had it to do all over again I would get the Thunderfly over the superfly just because I rarely camp in the extreme cold and I'm also never in very open areas where it's exceptionally windy, usually deep woods which provides an excellent windbreak. I am still considering selling or trading my Superfly and buying a Thunderfly eventually.

Here's my Thunderfly...pitched low, but you can see I'm all covered up.

Perfect, thanks for that! Can't see myself needing anything more than that for a while.

I use a Thunderfly with a Blackbird XLC and really like the protection it offers. I use an underquilt protector for some extra protection but so far I haven’t noticed any evidence of splashes or dampness even after a hard driving rain.

I also use an 11’ Cloudburst tarp with the detachable door kit on for my Ridgeruuner but will probably sell the CB and go with a 13’ Superfly. The door kits are too fiddly for my preferences and never close well around the RR suspension.

I received the samples the other day and it confirmed my initial thoughts. Will be getting an Evergreen Thunderfly! I will try to get some pics and post for future searches, but they are just small scraps, so might not be that great to judge in pics.
