    PU dig camo

I'm right in the middle of my first DIY (literally have half the hems done) with what I think is the same PU coated dig camo. I'm considering a double layer at least down the middle. I'm I paranoid? Or is this material too thin to go with a single layer?

Also, you wouldn't consider this stuff truely water proof, would you?

I wouldn't make a hammock from coated fabric... It'd be like laying on a sheet of plastic sheeting: you'd get wet from your own sweat.

That said, I'm 210lbs and my test hammock is thin 1.1oz/sq yard ripstop nylon. On a gathered-end hammock, you'd be surprised at the strength of normal fabrics.

RE: Label: the bargain bin stuff at walmart never has a good label on it, that I've seen... if you're not familiar with the fabrics, some do a "burn test." Nylon is generally easier to identify.. Cotton burns to ash. Polyester burns with black smoke and drips something terrible... the rest? (rayon, etc.) I'm not sure... somebody here with more experience than I should be able to help...

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
