Hammocker friendly places in the San Antonio, TX or Texarkana areas?

    Hi all!

I'm looking for any recommendations for hammock friendly campgrounds in both the San Antonio and Texarkana areas. Something has come up and my mom and I have to make an emergency trip in a couple of days, its undetermined yet if we will be going all the way to SA or if we will only have to go close to Texarkana so I figured I would ask about both just in case. We don't really want to stay at a hotel so our options are Air bnb or finding a hammock friendly place to camp, if anyone has any suggestions we would be grateful. We're driving down that way from Western KY so anything as close to that route as possible would be preferable.

Thanks everyone have an awesome day!

Sorry for the slow response, I am not on here on a regular basis but OldGringo rattled my cage and woke me up to offer some help.

Are you still looking for spots to hang in Texas?

The Texas State Parks System has a site specific reservation system. Many of the parks are great for hammocks, however, not all are and not all sites are. There are pictures at the state park site reservation pages that can help some. To make a reservation, the link is here.

There is also a Facebook group that shares information about sites that many find helpful. It's called Texas State Park Campsites and it can be found here.

Texarkana to San Antonio is about a 6-7 hour drive, some 450-miles from each other.

I am a 5th Gen Texan and can tell you that winters are unpredictable here as fronts slide down from the Front Range of the Rockies bringing snow, sleet and freezing rain in Texarkana and gusty, blustery winds in San Antonio.
