Not really, it doesn't extend too far past the end of the hammock, but I never use it in diamond, always just the square a-frame

I wouldn't worry too much about which one you pick as long as it's big enough to cover your hammock.

I started off with a cheap hammock from Walmart as well as the cheap "backpackers tarp". it was just *barely* big enough to cover the hammock when I turned it corner to corner.

served me well for several years, until I was finally able to spring for a "real" tarp.

somebody earlier in the thread said "start big and then work your way smaller" but I went the other way around and I started small, and I've just been getting bigger ever since: bigger hammocks bigger tarps, bigger bikes, bigger bike tires.

sticking with the hammock talk and skipping the bike talk, I found a 12 to 13ft winter tarp with a dual inside pole mod works best for me: I prefer the tarp to be higher up especially in the winter when snow starts sagging it down. in the summer I can open it up fully (doors become part of the roof) and raise it way up high for maximum coverage and maximum air circulation.

my current tarp is the custom printed tarp from Dutch. I reused the pole mods that I had from my previous tarp. my current hammock is a Dutch Chameleon.
