    Hello from CO!

Hi everyone! I hail from Fort Collins and I've been browsing this forum for years, and have been hammock camping for just as long. Recently I've decided to start building up my gear in an attempt to start winter camping, as I have so far only summer camped. It's my favorite time of the year, and I'd love to get better at it. This forum has been a treasure trove of info and y'all are all so kind on here! I look forward to getting to the point of snowy camping!

Androidfanman, fun to be out in winter, if there is enough cold weather gear. At least mosquitoes and bugs are on break till spring.

    Welcome to the party, pal!

A few years ago, I took the Winter Camping School from the Colorado Mountain Club, and highly recommend it. https://cmcdenver.org/schools-2/wintercampingschool

    Topics include:
    • Mechanisms of heat loss and staying warm
    • How cold affects the body, cold weather ailments
    • Dressing for the cold and snow
    • Winter camping gear, stove
    • Nutrition and cooking tips and techniques
    • Techniques for sleeping warm
    • Extending the temperature range of the equipment you may already have
    • Site selection and campsite organization
    • Tent organization
    • Winter travel and using sleds
    • Snow shelter construction
If you want a hiking partner when you get ready to try out your gear in the winter, let me know. I'm down in Denver.

Welcome! I'm also getting started. I lived in Ft Collins back in 2004 for a year and miss it terribly. Hoping to get back to the CO area at some point.

New to hammock all together. Just north of you a few hours. Been out for a couple nights and loving it. The school looks like some good fun.
