Did you get a walking foot sewing machine, or just the walking foot attachment? Trying to decide if the attachment is worth it. Not that they cost that much.

I own a Bernina and the attach is a bit pricey but as stated well worth it.

A teflon foot (probably actually just plastic) is a handy alternative -- it's what I've used instead of a walking foot. It is more slippery than the metal feet so it's good for our slydee... fabrics.

I bought a tarp kit from RBTR several months ago. It was the 2nd thing I’d ever made, and I’m the kind of person who had to read the manual to thread my sewing machine. I agree with everyone else, as long as you take your time and sew slow, it’s not too difficult. The hardest part for me was laying out, marking, and cutting that thin, slinky fabric. Make sure you have plenty of floor space, and use weights to keep the fabric in place. Not even duct tape will stick to sil. If you want a “professional” result, then buy one already made. Chances are, you’ll probably make a mistake or two, but as long as you can live with that, and it works in the end, it’s pretty satisfying to do it yourself.
