    Yellowstone and Grand Teton

Will be in both parks next August. Is hammocking the way to go or should I plan on tenting. Don't know the tree situation for hanging a tent at the parks campsites.

Advise checking next summer to see if they have adopted any new regulations. Yellowstone should be suitable for the vast majority of sites. Grand Teton will be problematic at the higher alpine sites. Advise checking out Google Earth for some early recon.

I think I’m going up Hell Roaring creek in Yellowstone and Cascade Canyon in Grand Teton stopping at North Fork Cascade camp zone.

+1 on that. Both are hammock 'friendly', but terrain would be the restricting factor.

Is it the Hell Roaring Cr. on the north end of the park. If so it isn't too far and you would be into the Absaroka Wilderness and free to hammock anywhere and the opportunities are abundant. I spent many a clinched moment crossing the high swinging bridge across the Yellowstone heading up Hell Roaring into the A-B Wildernesses. Things usually went fine until you were just about to the other side and the lead horse would then notice the difference between the swinging bridge and the stationary earth at the end of the bridge. That is when the horse would clinch ;-). At that point it was best to start kicking him in the flank to keep the momentum hard forward.

When I worked out of Blackrock RS (near Moran) I made several trips up Cascade, but that was in my climbing and tenting days. As Crazytown3 said, there are definitely enough trees to hang from there.

Fantastic area up there and adjacent to that area of the park. I need to get more hiking in there. OTG I'm more than slightly envious of your time spent there.

Here is a pic of checking A-B Wilderness hunting camps up on the divide between Slough and Buffalo Creeks. Incredibly wonderful memories closing out the back country patrol cabins at the end of another field season. Bushwhacking down the ridge to the Slough Cr. trail head.DrumsOverLamar.jpg

No, I never have. Would love to sometime though.

Looks like OlTrailDog has though. Beautiful picture! He's your expert with this area. I'm just an occasional transient.
