    Ridge Runner with HG Incubator?

    Hey guys,

I did a bit of searching but didn't find anything that seemed to answer this question. Sometime this week I'll be the proud new owner of a Ridge Runner Hammock!

Up to this points I've been using homemade gathered end hammocks. I have a 20degree HG Incubator UQ which I've been using for years. I see on the Warbonnet Web Site that they sell a RR specific underquilt. Is there any chance that I will be able to use my existing UQ with my new Ridge Runner?

    Thanks!

I’ve seen video/suggestion showing using a GE UQ with a bridge by running the bungee over the spreader pole to the other side and around that pole - at both ends. Seems a lot depends on the geometry to the UQ, and length of bungees. You might check with WarBonnet AND HammockGear directly. The Lynx, especially made for the RR, is pretty sweet if you decide to convert completely to the RR.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

The Lynx, made of down, is really nice. Some other vendor(s) may sell a synthetic knock-off designed for the Ridgerunner. FWIW, I really like my Lynx. In the meantime, especially if you got a double layer RR, you can use a pad either instead of or in addition to the underquilt.

Pretty likely you can. The RR specific underquilts are exactly the right size so the corner loops can be hooked onto the corners of the RR and you are done. I use an Old Rag Mountain UQ and it was an inch or two short so I needed to add small shockcord loops.

You most certainly can! Done it many times, either rigged the same as a GE or with mini 'biners on the corners. Yes, a bridge specific UQ will likely work better, giving you the full value of your UQ, there no need to break the bank just yet. Of you decide you really like the RR, I'm not sold on it myself, then spend the money of you feel the need.

I use one on a RR and a Townsend luxury bridge. Set it up like gathered end and use the dloops to pull it up tight if ya have a problem with gaps

I have the lynx and I do love it. What I discovered after getting my RR and my lynx though was that in my double layer RR I find a sleeping pad far more comfortable than an underquilt. If you have a sleeping pad that you like I would say give that a shot as well as trying out your current underquilt. Can always get the lynx later.

    Congrats on the new hammock!

I use the AHE Ridge Creek XL (25d) with my RR and it works fine. I also have a HG Econ Burrow 20d TQ. When I canoe camp in cold weather, I add a wool blanket and a military casualty blanket. I also have the sock which really helps.

When my wife first got her RR she was using a HG underquilt and it fit ok. Had to tweak it a little. Broke down and got her a FL Lynx UQ and it was worth the money. I did make two DIY UGs using clamashield and while they work, they do not fit as good as the Lynx does.
