Short backpacking hikes OH, IN, Ky

Looking to make a trip through Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. Any suggestions on short trails that I can backpack into. Loops, in and out, or just campgrounds with some cool trails nearby would work.

If Covid allows would be a mid December trip. Got my 0 degree gear ready to try out.

Are you going through eastern ky? Red River gorge is cool, short or long loops and lots of camping options. Wayne national forest here in Ohio has some options as well as Shawnee state forest. I live very close to Shawnee and portions of Wayne if you want more info let me know.

Yes. Leaving Chattanooga and heading north. Never been to those states and have a few days to kill before returning home. Eastern Ky, and southern OH/IN would be preferable.

I've been looking at Buckeye Trail and saw a Shawnee section that looks cool.

Hanson's Point Loop Red River Gorge if backpacking. Koomer Ridge Campground nearby is nice if car camping. Eastern Ky beauty!

This looks good. Looks like parking is at Martins Fork Parking area. Is it camp anywhere along the trail or campgrounds?

    TIA

It is dispersed camping but with a few rules regarding locations around cliffs . You need a permit to stay overnight available at the gas station in slade Kentucky or the gladie learning center for a few bucks. This place is definitely worth it. I am trying to go back down there myself soon.

It is as Trees Company said, think its 3 dollars a night or 5 for weekend. Can also park on Tunnel Ridge Road.

Went to Turkey Run in Indiana couple of years ago as mentioned by acey0628 and me and wife liked it really well. It was State Park designated camping sites.
