I am in the process of making a winter UQ. Before I went “ all in” and purchased expensive fabric and down fill I thought I’d make a test version with rip stop from a big box fabric store to test my sewing and work out any design kinks. I have the baffles almost finished and rather than throw this away when it’s done I got the idea to stuff it with synthetic insulation and use it for car camping. I’m aiming for a 20 degree quilt and I have 2in baffles with a 2.5 chamber height. What kind of synthetic insulation should I look for? Everything I’m seeing is on a roll and I need it loose to stuff. Also, is there a chart someplace to tell me how much insulation to use for 20 degrees?
Thanks for the advice! I’m new to hammocking and new to the forum.
