I didnt do anything to alter the tarp.
I bought some paracord that I use as a ridgeline, prussiks with mini biners so I can adjust/center it. I hang the tarp over the ridgeline, to put less stress on the tarp. I tie down the side pull outs to open the inside, and stake it down.
I dont think it was designed as a 'diamond' tarp, just one of the many functions it has, I use it in A-frame, or A-frame porch mode.

There’s a company called prometheans outdoor that’s having a big sale. Their version of a big tarp with doors is currently $120 can (about $85 usd?) it’s roughly equivalent to a hammock gear journey, warbonnet superfly, ugq winter dream, etc

20d sil poly, comes with reflective cordage, line locks, tent stakes, and so on. Weighs about 650g

If you’re still looking and price point is an issue, this may be something to look at? I know I just picked one up. I’m planning to cut off a bunch of the extra add-ons (like the Velcro cord straps and linelocs) to lower the weight.

Up here in canoe country the gold standard for a community tarp is the Cooke Custom Sewing Tundra tarp. Dan Cooke is an excellent cottage vendor serving the canoe camping community and his work is second to none. They are made out of either 1.1. or 1.9 silnylon and sizes start at 10'x10' and go up to a huge 15'x15', but I find the sweet spot is 10'x12' or 10'x14'. When it's raining all day you can be comfortable under one of these for a long time. https://shop.cookecustomsewing.com/c...?categoryId=12
