Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
I have a zero degree under quilt.
Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad!
I'd say the -40 bag would be a waste if a 0 doesnt do it for you at 32-35 degrees.
Try less clothes as everyone mentioned, and add a hot water bottle to warm things up before you get in.
This is GREAT advice,ty. I really, really like my tq and I've heard such awesome things about loco libre, I did A LOT of research before I purchased one, so I had very high hopes that I could use it in cold cold weather. So when it didn't work my second guess was my clothing was all wrong, but I wasn't sure how. I DID wear my base clothing all day, so it was probably a little moist--duh! How did I not think about this??? Also warmiing up before bed is a great idea. I did exactly what u said not to do-I went to bed when I got cold. I will give your ideas a go in a couple of weeks when it gets colder again (it's 80 degrees today in ohio!)
I do have a zero degree underquilt to match.
Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad!
Ty! fluffing it up is another great idea I've never tried. I figured I was overlayering, but I HATE to be cold and I've always worn a ton of clothes to bed since i was a kid.
I just saw your video last night about using multiple sleeping pads as well as the underquilt in my hammock. I'm going to try that as well.
Tx for your videos!!

Carry a light separate clean base layer for sleeping in, it'll be dry and it'll help keep your new quilt clean for longer
Ty for your reply.
I believe it's from the top....I'm just cold in general really...I don't feel a breeze or cold air from any one pareticular place...I'm just cold all over. But looking at other responses, I'm willing to bet it's b/c I go to bed with the base layer I've worn all day and then trapping in the moisture from that base layer with my cotton clothing-DUH! I CAN NOT believe I didn't think of this!
I absolutely love my tq, it's sssooooo comfortable! It just doesn't keep me warm and I thinks it my clothes now and not the tq. I'm anxious to find out here soon.
Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad!
Great advice, ty!
I wore all the clothes and put the blankets on top and was probably doing exactly what u said, trapping in the moisture AND compressing the down.
I won't have enough money for another tq until about summertime, so hopefully i will test out all of the advice I got here over this winter and the advice will work and save me 750 dollars!!! I guess if everyones advice saves me money I should divy it out amongst everyone...lol!
Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad!
I have a zero degree underquilt as well. I'm pretty sure there aren't any problems with it b/c I have had drafts in there when I first got it, but I think I have it fine tuned it in. I'm just a cold sleeper and have always been, but looking at what I wear and never putting it together that i have probably been cold due to wet cotton clothes. I feel so tupid. I have heard about having clothes for sleeping only, that havent been worn all day but why i didn't apply it to myself i don't know! I will measure my bag tonight, but coming from a high quality company, I don 't think my problem is with the quilt, I think it's with me and all my clothes.
I forgot to mention that I wore a hat to bed. I have felt that makes a BIG difference. Without it I was even colder!

Yes. DRY loose fitting base layer and socks... I'll bet that will make all the difference.
If you wore them hiking, they aren't dry no matter how dry you may think they feel.
Just had an overnighter with a new hanger and he couldn't figure out why his feet were cold all night as he said he never has cold feet. He put on fresh base layer, but wore the same socks he wore all day. BINGO
Add moisture to already cold feet/body and you don't stand a chance.
Good luck!
