I really tried to find an answer but couldn't and don't want to email warbonnet over an easily answered question, does the 20D silpoly material they make tarps from have a ripstop grid?

My silpoly thunderfly does not. It's in bushwack camo, can't say for sure on the solid colors.

Unlike my Silnylon fly, my 20D Silpoly Warbonnet Superfly in dark foliage green doesn't have the ripstop grid pattern.

It has been changing. It used to be a plain weave, but recently they have gotten ripstop fabrics for a couple of colors. If you want to know for sure, e-mail them.

I already ordered one monday and had it combined with a custom quilt order I placed last month, I am more or less just curious and impatient, I'll just wait till it shows up

Wow, what a coincidence you asked this question as I was getting ready to ask it myself. As I amass a large collection of hammock camping gear, I'm starting to forget what is what. I'm in the process of labeling everything and I hit a snag. I own two Mountainfly tarps, one in Silnylon and one in Silpoly. They are both a brownish color and I forgot which was which. The only distinguishable difference is one has a grid ripstop pattern and one does not. I'm not experienced enough to tell the difference by feel, so I'm going to assume the tarp without the ripstop pattern is the Silpoly.

To me, the SilPoly feels more “crackly”, less “silky”, than the SilNylon... I have Warbonnet tarps in both and there is a different feel to the SilPoly.

If in doubt, weigh the tarps. The silnylon version is made with 30D fabric and a little bit heavier than the 20D silpoly version. Other than that, silpoly is louder but stretches less.
