I might be trying too hard to find Goldilocks.
I got the UQP thinking I'd need it but have not needed it yet. I surmise that it's because I always pitch the tarp right down to the SRL so I don't get enough backsplash or side-blown rain to warrant it. It might help with persistent super-foggy conditions, which in my experience is worst-case scenario... short of rip-roaring high winds, which can literally destroy things.

However, IMO you wouldn't go horribly wrong getting a UQ with Argon 67 outer shell. Still eminently stuffable.

The HG folks weighed in that they don't build with 7D because of durability concerns, and doubt the packed size would be significantly smaller than 7d.

I went with the EE Enigma in 7D and 950 fp. Delivery right on 6 weeks. Workmanship is excellent.

On the right is my 15+ year old 20 degree TNF bag. The new quilt is almost exactly 1/3 the weight of the bag! (20 ounces versus 58).

Whoa, that's a beaut! You're really going to experience quite a contrast there.
