Wow! That was so cool! What great memories you guys got to make together!
If you do that last section again then do the link loop hike. Its on the map and book... I think I'll do that one next year but definitely still want to do the whole trail like the beginning of May.
Thanks .. Yes it was very cool.. Exciting adventure and a beautiful trail, all sections!
And that song that is playing towards the end as we approach Sones Pond, at 16 minutes in.. I thought that was very fitting.. " When we wake, hear the birds and feel the sun... With you and the I the future is bright... Even in the hard times..you and i could weather any storm.....

I will definitely check that out. I would also possibly do the trail again one year.. In late April/May.. Just to see all those waterfalls and chutes and slides we passed gushing full force! That itself would be pretty intense. I think my next short thru hike will be the Cranberry Lake 50 up in the Adirondacks.. Probably mid September.. I also have some interest in the Laurel Highlands trail in PA, The Northville Lake Placid trail and I would also like to re-hike the Devils Path in Catskills. The Devils path I can do in 2 nights and its closer to home, so that is easier ( time wise). But it is possible I will bring the rest of family for a 2 night trip in the Spring back to that section of Loyalsock.. For sure!
Yeah, that'd be a nice out and back hike to Alpine Falls... maybe spend the night at Sones Pond and then around the Haystacks. I saw you mention about no campfires in the video. It says that in the book too. Last year I spoke with Ruth Rhode the trail overseer and in a roundabout way... what they're not looking for is large parties starting huge campfires and spending multiple nights there. So a thruhiker could start a small fire and make sure to put it out... although, the Haystacks area is prohibited and monitored from what she said.
My favorite section was the splash dam, Lee's Falls, Rhode Falls area. That splash dam was crazy when I walking through there like a white water park! I think my next full hike on that will be an extra day just so I can get into some of the different campsites I passed up and really liked... or even doing it in reverse. That trail really is a hammock paradise compared to the lack of tent sites.
Im not big on fires when i go solo or long days hiking. If with the family, then yeah a fire is nice to sit around. Its also nice to have a fire when camping in one spot for a bit.. not just camping to eat/sleep. And.. a fire is also nice in winter time.. permitting.
That is why i love my Trail Designs Ti-Tri Sidewinder.. as you can see.. made a nice little simple leave no trace fire on first night, and we were able to carry less fuel.
Great adventure for you and your son!
My Dad's family is from 30 minutes north of Williamsport, beautiful area. I enjoyed getting to see the backcountry scenery up there in your video. Thanks for sharing!
What a nice place to live!! Thanks for watching and glad u enjoyed it!
Very nice. You probably know this: you’re giving your son and family a tremendous gift by making these videos.
