Had an awesome time in June taking an easy backpacking trip to these beautiful highlands in Virginia, and to the state's highest peak, Mount Rogers.
If interested, give the video a watch and let me know what you think!

Enjoyed the video and thanks for posting about your experience. I think waking up to those bulls in the morning would have given me a heart attack.
I was there in mid-June also. We saw one of the calves being born as we set up camp. Then, in the middle of the night one of the calves let out a blood curdling yelp. The whole herd immediately stampeded through the camp toward the calf. That'll wake you up.
Nice video, thank you I enjoyed it very much.
Oh wow, I'm not sure whether I would or would not like to witness that, haha! But that will certainly wake you up. The second night, we slept in the meadow below Mt. Rogers, and the ponies were running around for a long time at the beginning of the night, and some were just screaming. I couldn't tell if one got injured or something unmentionable was happening, haha. Finally died down so we could sleep, and I didn't see an injured pony anywhere, so not sure what was going on.
Thanks for watching though, I really appreciate it!
Nice video, my wife and I are heading to that area next week. Not sure what route we are taking yet though.
Out of curiosity- what was your trip route?
We were in the same area, about 3/4 mile east of Thomas Knob. On the second night, I woke up in the middle of the night for mother nature, and found a pony laying down under my tarp and two more standing just outside of the tarp. They make the area unique and magical.
