    Panel Pulls on Thunderfly?

I currently own a Thunderfly but am looking to try something a bit lighter, I am currently struggling between the Thunderfly and the Minifly but I believe I'll end up going with the TF since I really like porch mode. I am wondering if the panel pulls are really all that helpful on the TF in comparison to the SF which is much wider.

I got a small asym and love it. I mean, in a nasty storm you need to do some planning, but most of the year here it would not be an issue.

I’m kind of looking forward to the challenge actually. I mean, it’s small but there is still a lot of room on a small tarp. Get the hammock low to the ground, angle one end higher and get the walls super low with the tarp as low as possible and thats some solid coverage if I needed it. Worse case, I hang my rain jacket or pack cover off the end the wind is hitting.

Porch mode has nothing to do with panel pulls or size.
You would be fine with the Minifly.

I thought a wider tarp was more beneficial for porch mode, my mistake.

Just a bigger porch with a wider tarp.

Well... now I'm right back where I was, wondering which would work best haha. I am now thinking that maybe I'm best off just getting the silpoly Minifly for maximum weight savings and eliminating the panel pull choice/worry all together and take the superfly if there's a report of ugly weather. I'll give it some more consideration and maybe even wait and see what their next sale has to offer, there is no rush after all

Get the panel pulls, you may want to get the WB pole mod, that I highly recommend.

I already own a pole mod that I recently made for my Superfly, I was just curious if they were overkill or if they served a really useful purpose on a less wide tarp.

I'll stop short of calling this an endorsement, but if you ever want to experiment with panel pulls on a tarp that doesn't have them, this is an inexpensive option to try.
