knowing your height, weight and whether or not you care about having a light weight system will help people give better suggestions

There’s gonna be a whole bunch of questions that you’re gonna want to ask yourself. Is it buggy, what temperature range, and is it damp or rainy where you’re camping? Are you gonna be carrying it on your back, where an ultralight setup might be the deal? You should take your time with your decisions, and stick with cottage vendors. Good luck

Hammock Gear, Dutchware Gear, Dream Hammock, are all great places to start. Contact someone there and they will probably be able to offer you several different units, from several different materials and configurations. All have great customer service and will get you both into hammocks to best suit your needs and budget.

Most all the rest of our HF Cottage Vendors can do this as well. I just listed three that I've personally used as of recent. They deserve the plug.

I'm guessing you'll want some sort of bug net as you're in FL as well. I think Hammock Gear's WanderLust Kit is a solid option if you want a one-stop-shop type of thing. If weight is truly not an issue you could go with a synthetic insulation (underquilt, top quilt) from someone like Arrowhead Equipment - awesome bang-for-buck.

I’m fairly new to hammock camping as well. Great advice here.

I bought a cheap setup on Amazon and it’s fine, but even the simplest hammocks from a cottage maker are vastly superior in quality, comfort, and value. All things considered, it’s also not that much more $ for a solid basic cottage maker hammock versus what I got.

I got a system on Amazon - full size hammock, bugnet, straps for around $80. For $150 you can get a really decent setup from many of these makers. I mean, Darien, a Netless from Dutchware, SLD has several available - and these are not even their least expensive options. If you wanted to push it you could get a 12 foot from Dutch for $40 plus another $50 for a net and your basically in the same price ballpark with a much better hammock.

    Good luck!

You have a road to go down to find your hammock groove.
So many factors come into play.
I just did a video on the hammock learning curve. May give some insight.
Enjoy the hammock quest and be patient~~~~~

Way to many factors involved for specific reccomendations. Best is to just jump in. I started with a Hennessy explorer delux with the hex tarp just because it was a complete kit except for the quilts. Used my LL Bean 0° down bag (still do) & bought 20° + underquilt.

Now I have over 20 hammocks, 3 UQ s, 2 top quilts but prefer my bag. Just get something because within 6 months y'all will be getting more to find your sweet spots.

    Enjoy :-)
