    Three dumb questions

    1) Im guessing I need to use seam sealer on my Hex tarp? or are they already sealed?

    2) My poles fit in the D loop pullouts. I think it looks pretty good. Is this a bad idea? Should I be using cordage between the pole end and D loops?

    3) I bought a wide hammock with symmetrical netting. If I dont pin up the extra fabric it hangs in my face. How are people managing fabric that drapes in their face?

Thanks. Im a fng at hanging, but I sleep so good.

I tie out the hammock with shock cord to the rain fly corner tieouts. That keeps it out of my face great and you don’t need another stake in the ground.

What tarp do you have? Most tarps come without sealing although most cottage venders offer the sealing. Some tarps, by design, do not need the ridge sealed but will still need the pullouts sealed.
Using your hiking poles directly to the pullouts will cause you to have a very flat 'roof' on the tarp which will not shed water well. I think you would do better to use shock cord/ line between the HP and tieout, and over the CRL. JM2C.
You might try gathering the extra netting at the hammock ridge line with a couple of fabric clips. I haven't had this problem as I use 'fronkey style' bug nets.

As for the fabric in your face, there is a modification that you can find by searching on "knotty mod". Personally, I don't use tie outs and am not bothered by the extra fabric. But I have come to the conclusion that wide or extra wide hammocks are not really necessary for me, my body build, and/or how I lay in a GE.

I have a sit pad that I use as a pillow and it keeps the fabric away from my face too.
