I almost always attach it unless I already have too much quilt for the temps.

I I always attach it with quilts or not.
When the temperatures are above 65F I only use the UQP, below that I use both.

I want to protect my UQ no matter what the conditions so I always use it on my WBRR.

My thoughts exactly... Not doing any good in the bottom of the pack at that point.

I keep my UQP’s on their hammocks all the time. One less thing to decide to - or forget to - bring. One event not mentioned is when you are holding the hammock under your arm to adjust the suspension on one end and it slips and falls on the ground. A UQP is a lot cheaper than a UQ. It means I can relax about a lot of other things - can be a little sloppy on the UQ fit, not worry so much about wind direction changes, provides and option not to use an UQ at all on warm summer days, etc.

If I really had a need to be UL, I’d consider leaving it home. But by now, it’s sort of like a bike helmet; feels funny when it’s missing.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I had a UQP but got rid of it but that's mainly because I have a large coverage tarp (Superfly)for my RR. I had decided I wanted to carry my extra pack weight with a bigger tarp that basically almost comes to the ground

Just trying an UQP after years of passing over it...

With the change of weather I find myself between quilt comfort ratings. I thought about adding another quilt, but... I don't need ANOTHER quilt. With overnight temps floating between the 40's and 60's, I am plenty warm with a 40F Phoenix, but I have had some minor drafts at the foot end that I don't get with a full length UQ. I needed to get back at my thread injector to finish some woefully overdue projects, and decided to bang out an UQP with some Argon 90 I had in inventory. Took all of about fifteen minutes and I got to use it that evening with the Phoenix. Darned if it didn't cork those pesky leaks and might have added a few degrees of warmth to boot.

I might be sold on using this to extend the season a bit. And, I can't lie... it was comforting knowing that if there were some splash from an unexpected rain, I would offer a bit of protection. I didn't weigh this one, but it can't more the four ounces. I am sure I get it a little lighter if I switch to a lighter fabric and shock cord. Maybe swap out mini ucrs for adjustment hardware. Looking forward to trying it mid summer when even a 40F 3/4 can too much.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
