Hmm, I have an Underquilt, top quilt, tarp and hammock.
Which if these would I choose to “wrap myself in to keep warm”?
    Probably not the hammock!

i also carry base layers, a light down jacket, and a rain/windshirt.

Is this an episode of Hammock Naked and Alone?

I agree. I was just trying to be supportive.

Well I think the question was a bit tangent. The vids linked showed poncho's turned into hammocks. The OP asked if anyone here was using a mod to use their hammock as a rain poncho or at least to break the wind like wrapping yourself in your tarp or a big piece of Sil.

I guess mods might be clips or snaps velcro or something that would allow you to reconfigure a hammock into something you could wear.

My TQ is a JRB SS so it has the poncho hole, and I've worn it sitting around on a stool. My hammock insulation is now integrated (sewn in) so for me I wouldn't want this.

Maybe then you would be more of the, use a poncho as a hammock application, and not the other way around. Most hammocks are breathable, so a coated poncho would certainly stop the wind better.

When I was ground pounding I'd often start out using my poncho as a ground sheet, then end up wrapped up in it as it got colder.
