    Where to hang in Arizona?

Are there any decent places to hang a hammock in Arizona? I’m driving through now on a road trip and haven’t seen a real tree yet. Just scrubby brush. I was hoping to find a place to camp tonight in the vicinity of Holbrook, Petrified Forest, Winslow near I-40.

Are you headed west? Just a little west of Winslow is Flagstaff, as well as the Mogollon Rim which runs east to west for many, many miles, south of Winslow and north of Payson, all of which used to have billions of trees. Ponderosa Pine and Aspen. But I don't know how much has died from drought or burned since I was last there. Coconino, Apache, Kaibab and Tonto National forests all have endless trees above about 5000 to 6000 ft up to over 10,000 ft.

Thanks! Mogollon Rim looks like too far off a detour from I-40. I’ll checkout those other places. I’m heading East. Flagstaff is near freezing but it looks like mid 40s at lower elevation, and that should be fine with my quilts.

I'm afraid you won't find much near I40 east of Flagstaff. Close to Flag is your best bet.
