    Sub 24 Overnight Harriman NY

Hey BGR.. that first picture is the old mine right?

The cemetery.. we were standing there sort of paying respects and this couple approached us (very elderly gentleman and very young lady) and asked if we were familiar with the old root cellar not far from that spot. Offered to show us where it was and said you can go about fifteen feet into the mountain in the cellar. Didn’t take either of us more than a split second to decline the offer and boogie on out of there..

That was kinda weird, like a Stephen King scene.

If you’re on Facebook, search for a group called “NY Metro Area Trail Conditions”. Most of the chatter there right now is from snowshoers, but that’s the only place I’ve been able to find any info on Harriman.

    Thanks will check that out
We have some people in this thread that know all things harriman
    It's a great place
And I will be snowshoeing in somewhere tomorrow as I'm sure the snow deep
Had plans to go upstate and pull a pulk in a mile or so, but parking may be an issue
    So harriman might be contingency

Sorry, I should clarify - Plenty of info/knowledge here on Harriman in general, for sure That was just one of the only places I could find to get somewhat up to date trail condition info. NYNJ Trail Conference or Harriman websites and social media was no help for anything current.

Based on the weather forecast for the next few days, I expect it's gonna suck bigly from here on out.

My local trail is somewhat similar so I'll have some idea the next few days. But it looks as if the Catskills or other points north are going to be popular if you want to see good snow.
