I'm planning to hike/camp Fri and short out Saturday morning if anyone is interested in joining me. Just want to get out for a quickie and beat the Labor Day rush.

Forecast is for cooler and dry. I really need some cool and dry after the last couple of trips.

wish this wasn’t so far from me. The photos you guys take of the area look amazing. El Gordo and I just got back from Mt Rogers/Grayson Highlands and it was warmer and more humid than we had hoped. We beat the hurricane rains at least. Have a great trip!

Ha, that works both ways because I've meant to get down your way to hike and even had a Grayson trip planned with friends earlier this summer that had to be canceled due to a big wet weather system that was forecast. We were actually kinda glad that the weather did turn crappy because we would have hated it if it had been nice and we missed our chance!

For this weekend, the remnants of Ida will be gone so it looks like excellent weather in her wake.

Argh. Jealous. A s24O was on the to do list for the weekend and then I was taken out by Covid....despite being vaccinated, so I'm locked in my den for the next 10 days.
Spent the last ten days in Acadia and the Whites with the family, lots of hiking but no camping. It was the family wedding last friday that took me out!

Yikes, sorry to hear that! I assume your wrist is okay by now after the bike incident.

Well this is the first little hint of fall weather and we've got a good 2 months of what I consider the best season of the year for backpacking.

I still haven't yet decided what I'll do today, but leaning toward the Beech loop and Big Hill.

It's about 10 miles if you go North from skannatati to pine swamp and then around to the long path and then to big hill.
