If you’re around this coming weekend, Bob, I’d appreciate getting some miles under my feet and an overnight in the woods.

I am hoping for some trail time as well. Would love to do Friday/Saturday.. weather dependent.
Could do Saturday/Sunday as an alternative.

    Should have gone last night.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Having just gotten back I'm pretty sure tomorrow (Friday) is out for me... BUT special pleadings might result in a Sat-Sun trip. Although that is far from certain... you guys plan and I'll see how it works out. Michael, it might involve putting you on the phone with my wife.

Sorry, MikekiM, I was assuming you were following this thread and just couldn't make it. I'll be sure to text you next time.

Anyway, it was a good, not-so-hilly, not-so-longish (8.3 mi) loop with ~1000 feet of vertical (not too bad for 8 miles in Harriman!) that I've been meaning to scout for some time in anticipation of playing guide for my niece and her husband. Camping in the rain was just a side bonus!

Loop goes away from the usual crowd at Skannatati:

It was still raining this morning when I got up, so I took down hammock and quilts and had a spacious breakfast nook out of the rain!

No worries.. I should set this thread to Follow. I could do either of the two days, just thought Friday/Saturday so I have one full day home before going back to work.

On behalf of the brotherhood I can take a shot at pleading your behalf.

Can’t let this winter vacation end without some trail time. I’ve done a few day hikes but overnight has been limited to my backyard hammock lab.

Weather inHarriman looks like rain through the night tonight. But tomorrow and Sunday look nice enough. I am thinking a mid-morning start tomorrow.. shortish hike in.

    Out early on Sunday.

Trail and destination undetermined thus far.

Anyone up for a super short hike in Harriman for a stealth overnight? I was thinking starting from Silver Mine and finding a spot in the piney woods right off Lake Nawahunta. It’s forecast rain so I’m not up for long miles and hiking wet, but I have no issues with chilling out in the hammy listening to the rain on my tarp.

I'm up for a bit of a hike... rain ending early Sat and nice the rest of the day, no more precip until late morning Sunday.

We could always hike up to the lake overlook on the Menomine trail about 1.7m west of Skanatati. There’s a super reliable stream there and nice views of Little Long Pond. It’s about 2/3 of the way to Bald Rocks from the same parking lot.

MikekiM is up for some more trail miles, so we're planning to repeat my hike of a couple of days ago. Ends up not far from Skannatati parking so you can hike in a very short distance and hang, and we'll met you later in the afternoon. How's that sound?

I'll PM with caltopo link to full loop and coordinates for camp. Carry in a couple of liters of water and you're all set!

Anyone else interested lemme know and I'll do the same.
