    dynaglide whoopie bury length

I know that most everyone uses buries that are 6-8 inches long for amsteel whoopie slings. So I was a little surprised to find that the whoopie slings I have from warbonnet uses 4 inch buries, and I have never been let down by them. So my question is, if the whoopie slings I have from warbonnet uses a 4 inch bury with 7/64 amsteel, would a 4 inch bury also work for 2mm dynaglide?

I know about sampson's recommendation for bury length based off of the fids. But it doesn't seem like any of the cottage vendors really abide by that. I have been looking through old posts and I haven't been able to find the answer to my question.

A bury for a whoopie should be 3.5 fids. A fid is 21 times the diameter.

For 2 mm dynaglide we get:

    3.5 * 21* 2 = 147 mm = 5.8 inches

    For 7/64 Amsteel it's 8 inches.

Shorter probably "works", but has less holding power.

4" is a lot closer to 5.8" than it is to 8", so if you're ok with it in 7/64, you should be ok with it in dynaglide.
