Ridge Lines and prussik knot slippage problems

I bought some zing-it for my tarp ridge line, I tighten up the ends with the use of a prusik knot on each end . The problem is that the prusik knot will not lock up well.

Is there another device I can use? Do I need a different ridge line ?

    Help

    Thanks

Funny, I have the opposite problem with my prusik (on a continuous ridgeline): It gets so tight it's hard to move.
Periodically, I untie and re-tie it.

How many loops did you do on your prusiks? Maybe an extra one on each will help it hold better...

Why I ditched the CRL with prussiks and went to split ridgelines using Dutch Stingerz.

Sometimes you have to rub the Samthane coating off. Just slide the prusik back and forth until it gets really hot. Best done with gloves!

I started with a split ridge line and didn't like it. Then tried out prussiks on a continuous ridge line and liked the setup but had problems with them biting. About a year ago I swapped out the prussiks for NamaClaws and have been really happy with how well it works and how easy it is to set up.

Use a braided polyester cord such as Atwood Tactical Cord or Lawson Glowire/Guywire to make the Prusik loops. These will hold with Zing-it. There are other braided cords that will certainly work.

I use only knots for tarp ridge line and guy lines, so I use 2mm Lawson Glowire/Guywire for everything because it holds all knots very well. Don't even need a smaller diameter cord for the Prusiks because 2mm holds perfectly with 2mm ridge line. Really simplifies things because they are easy to handle and very tangle resistant.

Don’t you need to use a smaller cord for the Prusik to hold properly?

I use a split ridgeline with prusiks that I had slip once in a heavy wind. With the split ridgeline, I have a hanging trail that I now wrap around the prusiks and tie a slippery half hitch behind (pulling side of) the prusiks to lock it from sliding. I did have an extra wrap on the prusiks but when they got wet they were hard to slide so I'm compromising a little in the setup up. I'll use it until it doesn't work anymore.
