most decent air matts come with repair kits. so unless you happen to be juggling knives *shug, i'm looking at you* chances of having multiple punctures and tears at once is pretty low
watch some of the exped repair vids. most times you don't even need a patch, just the glue
Personally, I have an idea that most likely you are getting cold more from beneath than from on top. it is easy to bump up the top insulation layer to combat cold. It is more difficult in a pad obligate system to conjure up sufficient bottom insulation. You will probably need to either get a pad with higher R value, use multiple pads, use an UQ, or both.
Speaking of bottom insulation, I ordered an Exped Downmat XP Long Wide from Optics Planet on January 4, 2021. I have not received it yet. I checked the order on their website and it says "Expected to be shipped on 08/04/2021." Humm.
I do sleep cold and the Amok winter mat is pretty good but I'd like warmer so I sprung for the Exped mat. Guess I will get it in the middle of summer!
I have the Exped Downmat 9 LW and when inflated to its maximum, does an good job on insulating. Something to consider is when it is used in the Amok's, the maximum inflation is not always optimum. When used in this manner, the down is not lofted as much and therefore the insulating properties function likewise.
Bien dit, Monsieur Guilbeau
I have an Exped XP 9 Downmat I use in mine. Full inflation on flat lay. Let a touch of air out in seat mode.
Has worked for me in colder temps. Slept out in 8ºFin yard the other night.
