Nice thanks for the info, do you feel steady or do you feel like you might rock forwards or back during the night, and how is it for tasks liek getting changed?

getting changed? I've never tried to get changed in any hammock ever, heh.

as for rocking, its exactly the same as a gathered end. it's gentle and you honestly with it lasted longer

when I watch vids, it looks like it moves a ton. when youre in it, it feels completely still

I find it the most comfortable option out there. yiu have so much room inside, and pockets with nice heights on both sides.

it feels a LOT like being in the lazy boy with end tables on both sides

You could also just drape a blanket or something over the Amok ridgeline...even with bugnet closed. Easy fix.
    Shug

Great idea, I will try that out too see how it does.

I’d really like that option, pretty much the same as you can get on the chameleon or a XLC

Another thing I have had to deal with as far as getting cold is concerned is my recent weight loss. I am down under 200# for the first time since about 20-25 years ago, and not having the additional blubber insulating me definitely plays a factor. That being said, thinner is better all day every day!
And yes, referring to a question about my OP, I was getting cold from the top.
My main concern with draping a blanket over the ridgeline is that it is loose. A nice stiff wind will render a loose blanket useless as soon as it get blown off and possibly to the ground. Yes it could work well in low wind conditions, but I would prefer to rely on something more stable for multiple conditions.

This is what Amok said about the “winter top”

Ah, I see what you mean now. Replacing the bug net with a rain cover would mean a small closed space where condensation would form quite easily, it would be a challenge making it a good space. It would also mean having to change the fabric and possibly also some of the design of the Draumr as the hammock fabric itself is not waterproof. I know some people have tried making their own rain cover to fit in the way you propose but we haven't heard back from any of them yet. For now we like the option of the tarp better, but maybe we'll make something like this in the future 😊

    All the best,
    Ida @Amok

Seems to indicate they're thinking you want it to shield from water/rain. I assumed you just wanted it to be a wind shield and create a small microclimate, like the solid covers you can get on a Chameleon, Sparrow, Trail Lair, or BBXLC - to name a few. None of those are meant to be used as rain barriers.

I think the simplest thing for you and for them would be for you to see if you can buy a replacement bug net. Then as Tikker suggested, sew some calendared fabric (Argon 90, for example) over the netting.

Yeah think your right. I also send them links of both other top covers.
But I like Tikkers idea a lot

For use in an Amok Draumr, do people recommend a wide Top Quilt rather than a regular width one? Regular width cocoons me pretty good in a gathered end hammock but I'm suspecting that a wide width TQ might be preferable in a Draumr.
