Yep. That should move it to the side enough. I have separate suspension on the gear hammock and just hang it on the same trees as my hammock but on an outer side.

I have some long UHMWPE straps which I will just Beckett hitch to fixed loops.

I personally didn’t like the Beckett hitch on my hammock because a couple of times the straps did slip, resulting in heat damage to the fixed loops. Would work perfectly for a gear hammock though.

I'm a big fan of gear hammocks.
I use a hammock chair from AHE, and couldn't be happier.
I can keep my gear clean and dry, and if I want an extra blanket or I'm too hot, my stuff is right underneath me.
And, I can toss it all in my main hammock during the day id I want to use the hammock chair as a chair.

    Tpatter,

Have you looked a the Dream Hammock Gear Sling? It absorbs a ton of gear ( Jacket, socks, polypro base layers, gloves, wool hat, head lamp etc). Ypu cant sit in it but that is what my Stanley Camp Stool is for. Shug videos turned me onto that item. Both the stool and the Gear Sling, are worth their weight in gold.

    Have fun.

I think the gear sling would be better solution to what I am looking for - seems more versatile. Something I can pack, stuff in the pack, pull out, hang on the hammock, has all the stuff I need just for that.

    Does it also zip closed?
