    Hammock fever in Cali

It occurred to me after hanging in the hammock before bed at camp about 6 months ago, that I would sleep better probably in the hammock... So I researched a lot and found this lovely corner of the internet call me Jordy.

Oh and today I finished my first hammock. The honest outfitter hammock was ok, but this setup is much better, and helped me learn to sew.

Helion 1.6 fabric, ~11'10"x70" dimensions, dutchware spider straps and beetle buckles, made the whoopie and a soft shackle from some amsteel. It was so much fun to learn how to do all that, never have done anything like it before.

Welcome! Looks like a great job on the new hammock. I'm sorry to say, but DIY gear is a rathole you will never escape from. Enjoy your new comfortable sleeping arrangements.

I’d be really worried about the lateral stresses you’re putting on that post. They’re not designed for sideways pressure.

    Oh, and welcome!

It's like a bridge support. For sure a steel 'I' beam that supports a substantial structure overhead and deep into the ground. The outside I'm pretty sure is rebar, concrete with a thin paint of facade on the concrete. I asked a lot of questions first to my partners family

This is for @Crazytown3... Already ordered so much more amsteel and going to make a ridgeline organizer from the hammock body scraps, you are so right.

    Howdy from Houston,

The hammock's looking great. Good job! Please do post pictures when you've completed your RL organizer.
