    DCF Tarps

    Hey folks,

I'm currently in the process of working towards a UL setup, and I'm shopping DCF tarps.

    Specifically, 11', Hex.

Here's what I've come up with so far.

Hammock Hex Tarp Mountain Laurel Designs $300.00 8oz/227g
Dyneema Fiber Hex Tarp Hammock Gear $249.00 5.14oz/145.717g
    Hex Tarp w/DCF Dutchware $239.00 6.97oz/197.5g
Standard Hammock Tarp Zpacks $249.00 7oz/198.447

I'm leaning HG, seems to be the lightest option and pricepoint is on par with the rest.

Do y'all know of any other vendors who *currently* make DCF tarps? TIA!

I think you've ID'd most of the usual suspects for DCF tarps.

I just got a 2nd's DCF hammock tarp from ZPacks that I used recently on a trip to the Pecos Wilderness. Great coverage & with guy lines, the weight is 8.8 oz. As for why it's a blem tarp, I'll be damned if I can tell.

Good coverage for offerings in the OP.

HG got my order when they bumped 15% off for Labor Day. LiteAF had a highly acclaimed DCF Hex that is now out of production as they have chosen to focus on packs apparently.

I'm working on my own UL Hammock Kit, but Brotherbones(Jeremy) has already done the video on it. That was easy!
Good luck! Your back will love you.

Hey John long time no hear from. Hope you're doing well. For me the CF tarps are good in late fall and winter when the coverage is needed and I opted for the palace as the Hammock Gear non palace just didn't have enough coverage for bad weather for me. That pretty much covers all of the major manufactures. Good luck and let us know what you choose.

Hey Shwack! You've covered all the makers I know of but I'm not on the cutting edge of the gear trade anymore.

I stuck with HG for all of my DCF tarps. They have been doing tarps for years and it's not a side-thing for them. Their post sale customer service is outstanding as well. I had a pin hole in the ridge of my Palace (pretty sure it came that way from the buyer here on the forums).. sent it to HG and they fixed it no charge...

The only other DCF tarp that has caught my eye was the LiteAF.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Yeah, that LAF tarp looked like it might have been a do-it-all size as it looked like it was a bit wider than the HG standard but less than the Palace. I wonder why they didn't resume making them because I'm sure it wasn't for a lack of demand.

Have to admit I had my eye on the LiteAF DCF.

I have no problem going with HG. Very generous Labor Day Sale
