    I make a point of marking my territory at likely access routes to my hang spot. I refresh this scent marker if I need to get up in the night, just to let the critters with the big teeth and sensitive noses know I'm there (and if I've had asparagus or not)

    You're assuming they (the large toothed critters) recognize your scent as a threat and not a dinner bell...

    I don't know anything about this topic, but I can't imagine all urine presents itself as an odor of threat.
    Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
