    5'10" 150lb. What length?

I'm gearing up to purchase my first legit GE hammock. I've slept in the WBRR, XLC, and Eldorado. But I'm not sure if I need an 11'. I tend to flip flop around a lot and I am pretty sold on the "footbox" concept as I can't stand the outer foot being pushed in. Is there some advantage to a 10' for comfort other than weight? I prioritize comfort over weight.

    thanks!

I’m also 5’10” and only a little heavier. I have a 10’ hammock i like for ultralight backpacking. Easy to pitch and a 10’ tarp is long enough, maximizing weight/space savings. It’s barely long enough for comfort. But for sleeping every night at home I have a 12’ and it’s much more comfortable. If comfort is priority, go 11’ or even more.

Thanks Latherdome. That's what I figured but wanted to put it out there. Definitely not an ultralight. I've still got plenty of older heavy gear that always worked fine so any weight savings are gravy. (I finally sold my TNF Goliath sleeping bag that was 4.5 lbs!)

Dutch recently stated on a youTube interview that 12 footers are starting to become very popular for the comfort they provide so if ultra lite isn't your forte then you may want to add this to your list.

I used to be 5'11" but may have shrunk an inch over the years. For me, discovering 11 ft. hammocks was a godsend. I went from sleeping fitfully, to sleeping like a log.

The trend toward 12 ft. hammocks (and 12 ft. tarps) is not something I'll join. Eleven feet is fine with me.

I’m 5’8” (ish) and went from 10’ to 11’ and the difference is very noticeable. I’m not sure a 12’ would be that much difference for me, but the 11 was certainly worth it.

Yeah 11' seems quite sufficient, for me at least.

For your comfort, get an 11 wide, that would be 11 feet long and 66 to 68 inches wide.

My progression ENO doublenest, short and wide, banana lay- less able to get a good diagonal lay.
Then 11x5 WildernessLogics experienced some foot scrunch or outside foot bent inwards at hammock edge, while on diagonal lay. Also some but not much CRP-Calf Ridge Pressure
Then 12x6 WidernessLogics, my most comfortable hammock, by far!

You might want a 12x 66 to 68 inches hammock. They are not for everyone, especially backpackers, might then need longer tarp ridgeline, and larger pack.
Lots of choices here and none of them bad including my first hammock!

At 5'9" I was always fine with a 10'. I bought an 11' to try but didn't notice much difference, other than the ridgeline being a mile above my reach now! So I made my own 10.5' just to split the difference which I absolutely love.
