Backpacking on Franconia Ridge with my daughter

Took my daughter Ezri up to the White Mountains a few weeks ago for some backpacking. No hammock on this one - we shared a tent. We stayed at the Liberty Springs campsite and went over Mt. Liberty and Flume on Day 1. I wasn't sure if she'd be up for tackling the whole ridge but she was game so on Day 2 we went over Little Haystack, Lincoln and Lafayette. Very windy at points but the temps were mild making for a sporty and fun time above treeline. The trip down was a death march. She was very tired by this point and it was slow going the rest of the way. But she did great and I'm very proud of her. 15 miles and 6800' vertical gain is a lot for an 11 year old!

I'm very happy with how the video turned out. Please consider subscribing to my channel if you like it!

Spend all the time you can with her as they grow up fast and get married (my daughter last weekend) Beautiful area but that kind of elevation change is hard for the young and old.

Very impressive. That is some tough hiking, so that young lady is a real trooper. Still seemed happy at the end!

That was a such a neat video, Seth. You and your daughter have captured this wonderful bonding time forever. Thanks for sharing it with us!
I wish I can get my teen kids to hang out with me, and to do something like this. Man, I miss those days when they were tikes and the wife and I were their super heroes.

Thanks all! This was her first overnight hiking trip in a tent - we've gone up the past few Augusts but always stayed at one of the AMC huts. Not an option this year. She definitely isn't as gung-ho about hiking with her Old Man as she was a few years ago. I'm hopeful that's she'll still want to continue once she becomes a full-fledged teenager but we'll see...

Haha, thanks. It's a lot to deal with. Definitely easier to just braid it to keep it out of the way sometimes.
