Catskills waterfalls, fire tower and views.. her first overnight camping trip!!

    https://youtu.be/QSYnrOofvyY

There is a link for the trip video. To sum it up, this was my wifes first ever overnight backpacking/camping trip. We went to the Catskills in NY. Hiked past a nice double waterfall, up Hunter Mt (4,040 ft) and climbed the fire tower for some amazing 360° views. We then made camp for the night. The kids slept in their hammocks ( Dutch Chameleons), side by side and under Hammock Gear winter palace dcf tarp. We slept on the ground in our Nemo Firefly 2p tent.. which was cozy and worked well (considering being on ground). The night brought heavy winds 20-30 mph consistently all night, with gust 30+ strong. Everything worked well. I guess for her first ever overnight trip, i would say it was a success and she enjoyed it.. maybe now after 22 years she will catch the bug..lol .

Great video, and looks like a really nice overnight for the family. If your wife is like mine, it's hard for her to get out and do those things. Good for her!

Thanks. Physically she is just fine to get out and do it.. Mentally.. Not!! Lol. The thought of sleeping out in the woods or mountains at night..and no bathroom either!! What about animals??? What if someone tries to kill us while we are sleeping?? These are thoughts running through her head.
People fear what they do not know.. And that, I believe is a fact.
Was I a bit nervous my first solo trip? Of course.. But the more I went solo and spent time time out there, the more comfortable I have gotten. My son, who has joined me on many trips.. I saw him take charge this time and set up and break down his and his sister's hammocks and gear. First time he has done it completely on his own without my assistance or guidance. I was actually quite impressed.. But it was definitely time. So, like I said the more you get out and do it, the more comfortable you become.

Thanks for watching. Yeah everyone did fine. I did carry my wife's pack up Hunter the last mile.. Her shoulders were getting sore and I know the feeling from the Kumo, so instead of slowing us down, I carried it for her that last mile. Also had that heavy wind over night.. But nothing too bad.. The end of video I was filming from the tent, the wind was settling down at that point, but for us.. It will remind us how windy it was overnight..

No problem. I really mess around taking pictures and videos for my personal memories. I love going back and watching my trips from the past. I wish I had done this going way back .. I figure 10- 20 years from now.. Instead of a photo album I can at least re-live some of the action!!
