SilvrSurfr and I do not always agree but I do agree on using a tarp with doors.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

You can easily mix and match brands. 11' tarp is a perfect match for an 11' hammock.. I had two 12' tarps and found the extra length to not be worth the extra weight. All of my tarps are now 11'.

Doors... If you give up the extra foot of ridge length you can easily wash any weight penalty for adding doors. While I have tarps with and without doors (HG DCF Standard Hex, Standard w/ doors and Palace) The Standard is retired once the weather gets cool. Having doors when you need them to cut wind or block rain/snow is a huge benefit. Tie them back when not in use...You won't know they are there. If you don't have them, and need them, you'll wish you got them.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I got the super fly, I like it the doors are nice for sudden wind direction changes. It does have gaps though so its not perfect. Also don't hang it inside out as its not waterproof haha learned that the hard way

I'm debating getting a 12' tarp for an 11' hammock, just to have the extra coverage without deploying any doors....in the "just in case it gets windy and/or rainy during the night". I'll still have the doors, which I can deploy from the INSIDE of the tarp, in case it gets truly nasty during the night. I don't mind the extra weight from the increased length or the doors, as the peace of mind is worth it to me.
