Heated UQ sling using chemical hand warmers

I am trying to get caught up on a few hammock DIY ideas. I tried this out last year and it worked pretty well to stay warmer. This is basically two pouches to hold chemical hand warmers like Hot Hands that can be attached to the bottom of a hammock. So the order of materials I used were outside to inside= silnylon, climateshield (left rough cut to create a better seal), reflectix, 2layers of mesh (to seperate the hot hands from the reflectix), then would be the hots heater, then another layer of mesh, and this would go up against either my UQ or my hammock. Then I attached webbing on the corners to try to stop any twist, but they come together and the whole thing only has 2 connection points and I can position it anywhere under my hammock. Cost about $2 a night for 4 hot hands in total, but I think it is always nice to lay on a heated bed!

Bravo for you, thinking outside the box.
I wonder if hot hands will work in back pants pockets!?!?
    Or maybe too hot?!?!

It could be too hot, though I have had them in my shoes and they have not gotten too hot. I have wondered if you leave part of the package on it to cover half of it, if it would restrict the oxygen and the chemical reaction. It might not get so hot and it might also last longer.

I use hot hands in my UQ. Also made a daisy chain to put four hot hands in my under quilt. In a gathered and you have to obviously attach them in the diagonal direction that you lay but in a bridge Hamic you can almost just throw them in their loose. And yes they do work

On very cold nights, like getting around 20 degrees and colder I will take two hand warmers and stick one in each front pocket of the pants I am wearing. This places them over / close to two major arteries in the legs and keeps me warm all night.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Hey Gunner76, that is a great idea, and the location makes sense, thank you for mentioning it! ---But wait, so I have to wear pants? I think I will continue looking for another solution
