    Make custom tarp for vehicle.

I want to make a custom tarp and am looking for input. If you know of someone who does good work that would be willing to work with me I'd be more than happy to outsource the sewing.

My thoughts is that it attaches to the top ends of my roof rack. Wouldn't stay up there all the time just deployed once at camp.

6' wide and 10' out from the vehicle.
With two triangular, door kind of things that would be on the 10' wide side giving an over all top down view of a triangle with the tip cut off, or a trapezoid.

I'm either getting the sil wide from DutchWare
    https://dutchwaregear.com/product/xenon-sil-wide/

    Or this hex from Rsbtr
    https://ripstopbytheroll.com/products/2-2-oz-hex70-xl

Using these poles either 2 or 4. Might use just two of these and then my hiking poles for the other if I wanted giant porch mode.

Just an idea. Planning on tie out point at half way points on the wings, and tie out at the seams and ends of everything.

6' is just a rough number, the fabric comes 70-74 so whatever it ends up being after selvedge is fine with me.

Possible. But that isn't the point for me. I have a stand that I can carry on the rack. I just want something that is just shade and chill/cooking area that isn't my sleeping area. Also I work out of my vehicle and it would be nice to have some shade options when working on things out in a field.

    it is what it is.

I had Paul at Arrowhead make me a custom tarp for State Park standard picnic tables. He did not quite get my instructions right on the end piece (a small roof extension) but all in all it turned out good.

Which poles are those? Do they extend or fold?

The poles are from REI. They are shock-corded and fold into 3 or 4 pieces.

Those REI poles would be perfect for what you are needing I think. They are nice and sturdy when deployed.

I use those poles a lot. REI has two sizes. I use the smaller of the two sizes for Porch Mode on the hammock tarp and if I were sure I’d need to tarp a picnic table or other gathering area I’d use the larger (thicker/longer) set. When I’ve used the larger poles, I guy with two lines on each end (total of 4 lines), coming off at an angle. One thing I try to keep in mind is the poles don’t need to be right at the table edge. Just like a tarp can hang several feet in from its two trees, so the poles don’t need to be at the end of the tarp. The poles/“trees” can be several feet away from the table’s edge with lines from the tarp ridgeline running to them.

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
