I'm not familiar enough with the stand to get into specifics- but I got the sense you can collapse a few sections of the poles to adjust the height- or get it right in the ballpark. From there you could tune things a bit by tipping the bipod out of vertical (away from the hammock).
Not sure what you meant by "out of vertical (away from the hammock) but it's worth noting that using the poles like a typical bipod, nearly upright, stresses the anchors WAY MORE than if you let them lean severely more or less inline with the hammock hang angle. This is why Solo (nearly upright) needs 2 anchors, and anchor pullout remains the #1 reason for problems.

Mostly it means that I should probably not be trying to explain this stuff,

John and I exchanged an email or two and I was doing a poor job of explaining what you did above.
Ignore me... I'll stick to sewing

I'll be trying out the technique Todd showed us over the weekend. Will post pictures.

What did you do at the pole ends on the ground to keep them from slipping towards each other?
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Also, what about on a hard surface like indoors or patio? ( But, this looks fantastic! ) I saw another post recently where the ground side head and foot left pole were connected by a bar that runs head to foot direction, a foot or 2 long. That would keep it from sliding towards each other, right?

Hey, do I see some cordage going from the ground side pole tips back to an anchor?

If you look closely you can see the amsteel running up to a stake on both ends. That stake also ties out the head and foot end to keep the tensa from folding up. You can do away with the baseline and just put a stake at each pole end to keep things in place also

Thanks! Really cool. I wonder how much force is on those ground cords and the head and foot ends lines? Thinking in terms of use inside or on a porch with hard floors rather than soft ground?
