    An update. I just got to use these bumper guards from HomeDepot and I love them. I've broken so many of the tube style that I wanted to give these a try and I really like them. Now to device a clever way to keep up with them Thanks again for the idea.
    Here's a before and after picture, and they fit very snugly so I do not think they will fall off but keeping up with them may be a different story. I may device a lanyard out of fishing string but I'm still pondering that idea.

    Glad they are working for you! I just spent a week in the Boundary Waters with them on. They stayed tight and worked perfectly. I just store them in the pocket of my Ridgerunner saddle bag.
