Attachable hammock doors are such a hassle are they not?

So i have a Mamajamba with attachable doors and holy cow, is it hard to set up. If I have the doors in the snake skins they just add so many additional tie outs to tangle. If I leave them completely attached than the elastic from the doors pulls the ridgeline of the tarp into one large ball.

But then it's such a pain to attach them after the tarp is up as well. Each door has three attachment points. It takes forever. I think from now on I'm just going to use tarps like the Superfly.

Anyone have any good suggestions for how to make using doors on the Mamajamba less of a pain? Or do you all agree just to get one with built on doors.

I've seen the modification where you essentially tie the doors from opposite ends of the tarp together so it's nice and open. And then you can just untie it and stake them down if the weather gets bad. This is what I think I'm going to do next.

Let me know your thoughts on attachable tarp doors!

While I'm sure there are suggestions to make setup easier, I say sell the existing setup and buy a tarp w/doors. To me, they're just not worth it. And holiday sales are coming!

Okay I see you've had the same experience. I bought my beginner hang set-up last year during Warbonnet's Black Friday sale. Do you know any other good sales that might be coming up?

I concur. Tried it early on in my hanging days and jettisoned that quickly.

I don't know of anything soon. Just the typical one you referenced, and most other cottage manufacturers as well. I am currently using the Mountainfly for full side coverage and decent doors. Seems to work like a charm thus far. And I arrived there by selling my HG Palace.

I only use a Superfly because I use a RR with spreader bars. Otherwise I'd use a Mountainfly or a Cloudburst.
