    Hello from a Hammock Newbie

I'm new to the world of Hammocks and just received my very first Hammock and Tarp with the ultimate goal of using them on my thru-hike of the AT. After weeks of research I landed on the Warbonnet BlackBird XLC and the Warbonnet Superfly. Set both up multiple times this weekend and I'm excited to use them at some local state parks once the weather gets a little more tolerable.

Being 100% new to all of this I'm sure I'll be posting loads of questions. I also hope to share my experiences as well.

Looking forward to being a member of this community!

Welcome to the forum. I have the same gear and you’ll do great with it. Great weather protection with that tarp. You’ll want some snakeskins if you don’t have them already.

Welcome aboard. You made some solid choices for your first set-up.

Ask away...there's a bunch of smarts and experience here on the forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I bought a set of tarp sleeves and after using them have decided to give the single sleeve a go. I think I'll prefer the single but will see after using both. I also have some Dutchware coming this week to experiment with guy line options as well as some mitten hooks to use for the doors. This is a whole new world for me so I'm very open to trying different options.

@TallPaul- Any tips/suggestions for Seam Sealing the Superfly... will be the first time I attempt it.

@Canadark- I see you have the Dutch Beetle Buckle Suspension... How is that working for you. So far I feel comfortable with the Becket but was also interested in a cinch buckle setup.

WB has a seam sealing video on their site. Looked under the tarp description. Pretty easy, just take your time and let it dry.

The Dutch beetle buckle suspension for me is....just OK. I find it much harder to adjust in real life versus what Dutch shows in his video demo. If there is any weight on the suspension, I need two hands to make adjustments, which is kind of a pain in the butt.

I'm looking to switch to the Becket hitch as well, now that I have acquired some compatible stuff from Jeff Myers and Autumn Ultralight. You might want to look at the "Breeze buckles" from Autumn Ultralight...I have a set but have not yet used them. They seem like they would be super easy to both use and adjust as needed.
