How many of you take your Amok Draumr backpacking?

I’m just curious! Yes, the Draumr is heavy. But it’s also comfortable, and can be convenient with the way the pad provides bottom insulation. So how many of you are willing to add the weight?

For me, it’s rare, but I may bring it on an upcoming winter trip, simply because I’m bringing two of my teenagers, I don’t have enough 20* underquilts to keep them warm, and I really don’t have the budget to buy more right now. I’m a fairly lightweight backpacker, my base weight for summer trips is just under 13 lbs, and my winter kit is around 15. Carrying the Draumr, that’ll be up around 19, and I’d be trying to shave ounces in a few other places to keep it down.

    So what say you?

draumr is only backpacking hammock for me

its comfort and versatility far outweighs its slight weight penalty

I was never going to be a gram weenie anyway, nor am I a through hiker

    ^^^ x2.

A good night of sleep and comfort is far more important to me than a pound or two.

I thought the 2019 Draumr had some very nice features, e.g. adjustable tilt, abundant storage, foot box gone, and head/foot pole pockets, but opted to keep and use a Hammocktent 90 degree for backpacking because of the lighter weight and compact size.

Anyone found a lighter tarp for summer backpacking? Seems like you could go lighter for warm weather

My thoughts were that the custom Hammocktent 90 degree CF tarp would work with the Draumr since both are 90s. However, I passed the Draumr along before experimenting. They are expensive, but light weight as per the question.

Thoughts on an Asym with a perpendicular ridgeline?

I only backpack with my Draumr XL. I do so because of its versatility. When I am in an area with trees to hang from, I pitch it on the ground with my hiking poles as support. The pad makes it comfortable for ground sleeping.

It does work, but its tight. The ridgeline on the Amok tarp is 8', but the RL on the Ht90 tarp is only 7'. Amok definitely could use a few inches..
